This week I braved my fear of sewing with a pattern. All of my previous sewing projects had been crafty things I just did. Using a pattern to make clothing was scary to me, but then I went to the store and saw all the cute patterns! Wow, I could make so many different things. Clothing, purses, curtains, even yoga bags. The list is endless.
So, I took a deep breath and attempted what I thought would be the simpliest pattern - pajama pants using a pattern made for first time tween sewers. It was written in plain language and easy to follow. And the result is really adorable pajama pants for Ashley!

After that, I took a regular pattern that included smaller sizes of pajama pants for the other kids. I asked around and found out I could trace the pattern rather than cut the original. That saved me immensely. Now I can use the pattern over and over for different sizes.
After lots of tracing and cutting, suddenly, I had pants for Laurie!

And then, today, in a record 2 hours, I made pants for Daniel. Check out his fabric, it matches his nap mat from his Mother's Day Out days. He fell in love with the fabric at the store and just had to have it for his pants.

Daniel was so happy with them, he wore them tonight to bed. That made me really happy as a mom.
I'm very excited about how all three pants turned out. Next, I have a dress pattern to try for Ashley and Birdie. And shorts & shirts, a purse, yoga bag and a hundred other things.

Congratulations! They look great on the hangers. Now, let's have some pictures. I especially want to see Daniel. He was so cute hanging on to that bolt of fabric that day. He did latch on to it and never changed his mind about it. You did really good.
