Generational Visits

The kids and I made a point to visit both my grandmother's this weekend since we haven't been able to see them due to all the illness in the family this last month or so.

We started with a nice visit w/Merr & Aunt Pam on Friday afternoon. It was such a great visit and the kids really had an opportunity to visit one on one with their Great-Grandmother. It amazes me that at age 87 and with 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, she can recall each of my kids birthdays.

Today after mass, we went over to visit Granny at her assisted living facility. This was a more difficult visit because at times conversation can be challenging with Granny due to her dementia. Still, the kids danced around, made her smile and hopefully brightened her day. She seemed pleased we came by, though I'm not sure she knew who we were, and laughed at all the kids antics.

We need to make these visits more regular since we are so blessed to have both my grandmothers living so very close to us.

You know I hate to correct you. ;)
But Merr has 12 grandchildren (11 living) and 19 great-grandchildren (16 living). I know it's hard to keep up with this growing family!

Forgot to mention that Granny remembered you were there, though she called you Shelly! Cameron visited her yesterday and said Granny remembered that I'd brought all the kids over that morning! Must have been a GOOD DAY!
