While we have lots of sickness in our house this Summer, record triple digit heat and no vacations, we have had several "perfect" days. What makes a perfect day? Most Sundays lately, we have just been hanging out in the pool in the back yard with the kids. Eating, drinking, listening to music and swimming. It is simply a nice way to spend the day together.

This week, we had sandwiches, fruit, kool-aid, pretzels, mojitos and popsicles! We played Marco Polo, some strange pretend you're an animal game (Ashley's idea), who can swim the farthest holding your breath, and of course, a biggest splash contest.
What is really great about this time poolside is the lack of bickering, whining, fussing and fighting. Everyone just gets along and enjoys the time together.
Laurie is now swimming the length of our pool all by herself. She usually swims a cross between freestyle and a doggie paddle and then turns over to swim on her back when she gets tired. Boy, can she move fast in the water when she wants. Its been great to see all those swimming lessons paying off.
