Two weeks ago, I decided to take Daniel in to the Pediatrician because he'd had a green runny nose for about 6 weeks. Wow, was I surprised when she told us he had a sinus infection, ear infection and wheezing in his chest. He was given a round of antibiotics but told to come back if he wasn't better at the end of the 10 days. After 9 days, he had horrible diarrhea but nothing else much had changed. When we went back in, the Dr. decided he needed something stronger. Much to Daniel's dismay, he was put on breathing treatments every 4 -6 hours for 5 days, stronger dose of antibiotics and received a double dose of antiobiotics via a shot in each leg. Yikes. He really really didn't like that. We went back to the Pediatrician today and given the all clear. One ear still has fluid and his tonsils are still enlarged, but otherwise he is ok. He has been a real trooper through all the breathing treatments and medicine. Brian and I don't think he is quite back to normal yet, but so much better than he has been lately.
Oh, and while we were at the Dr. today I asked her to look in Birdie's ears for me. Sunday, the Bird was acting very unusual for her - crying, wouldn't lay down, running a fever and more crying. But by the next day, seemed fine again. Dr. said Laurie ears had fluid in an ear (ok, which one of my kids doesn't have fluid in their ears?), but looked like she was recovering from an ear infection. What is up with my kids and their ears?
We are happy to have the three of them healthy for the time being. Ashley's next ENT visit to schedule her surgery is two weeks away, hopefully we won't see any doctors before then.
