After 4 weeks that seemed to fly by, the day finally arrived to get the cast off. I took another picture of the cast before they cut it off so we will remember how dirty and gross it got after 4 weeks of a boy jumping, running, and playing outside. Daniel did not let the cast get in his way of playing HARD! If they would have let him, he would have still played soccer and swam on swim team. At any point during this month, if you asked him how many days left - he could tell you. It became quite the joke. He loved to count down the days.
When we arrived to the appointment, they immediately called him back and began to cut the cast off. Brian, being an expert at having broken bones, had explained the saw and how it would tickle and not hurt. Daniel thought it was great.
I think we were all a little disappointed that his arm wasn't green or tremendously smelly when the cast came off. Sure, it smelled like BO, but I was expecting something a whole lot worse. And yes, they let him keep the cast.
After a new x-ray, the Dr told us he would regain complete use of his arm over the next few days and that swimming would be beneficial. At first, Daniel couldn't really move it much, but by the next day, he had improved substantially. Several days later, he still can't straighten it completely, but he is using it more and more.

On the way home, we had a terrible thunder and rain storm. I had been promising a jump in the pool for 4 weeks, but suddenly that was in jeopardy. Thankfully, it cleared and the day ended with Daniel swimming to his heart's content.
