Back to the ENT

Monday, I found myself back at the ENT, but not for Ashley or myself, this time for Daniel. At his 4 year check up, our pediatrician recommended he visit the ENT for his tonsils and aednoids. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but Daniel is a drooler. Yes, drool! When he was a baby and toddler, we attributed it to teething, but at his 3 & 4 year well check, the pediatrician noticed how large his tonsils are, which could cause the drooling. She also predicted that the ENT would want to take out his aednoids also due to Daniel's history of colds and sinus infections. Remember this summer?

Daniel was a little apprehensive about seeing the ENT because he remembers going there with Ashley (and she doesn't like it). It's funny, Ashley is always scared of seeing the ENT, but not the pediatrician (even though the later gives shots). I think it is because the ENT always does something unusual, like teaching her to pop her ears, giving hearing tests, having her say funny vowel sounds while looking in her throat, etc. At the pediatrician, it is predictable. Not so much at the ENT (I've experienced it also, with him looking at my vocal cords).
After looking at Daniel, the ENT wants to take his aednoids and tonsils out. There wasn't any question for him.

When I told Brian about the suggested surgery, he had some pretty nasty flashbacks of Ashley's surgery 3 years ago. Her recovery was pretty horrid. I'm a little nervous Daniel could have the same freakout over the tonsils, but try to remind myself that the positives far outweigh the potential 3 really bad days of recovery (oh and the 2 full weeks of her crying at every meal.
Update* The surgery is scheduled for Feb 8th.
