Ashley swam at the Sharks Invitational Meet last week to finish out her first season of swim team. She was a little nervous going into the meet, even crying on the way to the pool for practice that morning. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me she worried all the other girls would beat her. It really struck me as funny, since she hadn't worried about that all season. We had a discussion regarding the fact that these other girls at the Invitational had beat her all season, yet she hadn't been concerned about it. And that what was important was that she made it here. There were so many who didn't qualify (um, like her brother who was sitting next to her in the car!) She seemed to get over it and didn't mention it again that day.

At the meet, we had to draw her Turbo button on her arm again - and Daddy had to push the
button before her races. It was so very cute. For the first time this season, I wasn't working as a volunteer (which felt odd), and Daniel wasn't swimming. So Daniel, Laurie and I secured some chairs and waited for Daddy, Nana and Papa to get there.

She looked wonderful and POWERFUL in the water and was thrilled to receive two medals for participation (which were bigger than Daniel's from the Divisional Meet 2 days before).
It was a great night and we were really proud of her.

Call me crazy - but I kinda miss swim team this last week. Yes! CRAZY!!
