Since we moved Laurie into a big girl bed last week, she has taken only 1 nap. So, today I decided to have a Throwdown (as Ashley would say - think Bobby Flay) with her. After an hour or so of her running around playing in her room, I told her paci's were only for sleeping, so I took her paci. To get it back she had to lay down in bed. Then I sat in the glider to wait for her to get up so I could take it again. We went back and forth with lots of crying, her not me, for over an hour. I felt like a drug dealer giving crack to a baby. She wants that paci so very bad that she would do anything to get it. And here I am exploiting it, for a good reason though.
Finally, she gave me the paci and said she wanted down. Fine. (not really, but what do you do?) But then, she wanted me to hold her. So I gave her the paci back and rocked her. She went right to sleep.
I know it's only a half victory because she didn't go to sleep completely on her own, but at this point I'll take it. Yeah!!!

Sounds like a good start to me. She'll learn!! Must have been an exhausting hour (or longer?)
